Giovanni Harvey

Giovanni Harvey is the President of the Central Student Directory of the Federal Fluminense University - UFF in the late 1980s and began his career in the private sector in the 1990s. He is also the Director of Human Resources at Companhia Mercantil Itaipava and Director of Market Relations at the consultancy 'Grifo.' In 1994, he founded the company 'Giovanni Harvey Seguros & Previdência' and worked in the insurance market for 11 years. During this period, he took leave of absence to hold the positions of Superintendent of the State Secretariat for Human Rights and Citizenship - SECID, under the administration of Senator Abdias do Nascimento; Planning Manager of the Special Projects Coordination at the Technical School Support Foundation - FAETEC, in the Government of Anthony Garotinho; and Integration Advisor at the Executive Office of the Governor, in the Government of Benedita da Silva. In 2004, he founded the Afro-Brazilian Incubator in Rio de Janeiro. He was a consultant for the United Nations Development Program – UNDP, in Cape Verde, and also participated in the Civil Society Forum at the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank. He held the position of Undersecretary of Affirmative Action Policies at SEPPIR/PR, at the invitation of Minister Édson Santos. He returned to the leadership of the Afro-Brazilian Incubator in May 2009 and worked as a consultant and strategist in various public and private institutions.
